Scaleway has secured two landmark cloud deals. Here’s why this matters to our customers
Data sovereignty is no longer a niche requirement
Scaleway Selected by the European Commission for Sovereign Cloud
The European Commission has selected four European cloud providers for a contract worth up to 180 million euros over six years. The aim is to provide EU institutions, bodies, and agencies with access to sovereign cloud services that support Europe’s digital sovereignty. Scaleway is among the selected providers.
The selection is not based solely on traditional technical criteria. According to the European Commission, the tender is linked to requirements concerning, among other things, strategic control, legal control, security, compliance, the supply chain, technological openness, and operational resilience.
For us, this is a strong endorsement. When a European cloud provider is selected to supply cloud infrastructure to EU institutions, it demonstrates that data sovereignty has become a concrete requirement—not just a buzzword.
Scaleway is also becoming a cloud partner for France's Health Data Hub
A few days after the EU selection process, Scaleway was chosen as the future host for France’s Health Data Hub. The Health Data Hub is a central platform for health data used for research and innovation in the public interest. Reuters describes the decision as a shift away from Microsoft Azure and toward a French cloud provider as part of a broader European movement toward cloud sovereignty.
This is a field with extremely high standards. Health data is among the most sensitive types of data, and according to Reuters, Scaleway will help secure the data of millions of French citizens. The new platform is expected to be operational by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Read more here.
Scaleway itself emphasizes that the selection was made following a thorough process in which technical requirements, compliance, and the company’s roadmap toward SecNumCloud certification all played a significant role.
Why this matters for HR and ATS data
As a Danish HR and ATS platform, we work with data that requires a high level of trust. Candidates and employees share information with the expectation that it will be handled professionally, securely, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
That is why our choice of cloud provider is part of our responsibility. Read more here.
We use Scaleway as our data center because we want a European infrastructure that aligns with our values and our customers’ expectations:
- Data must be processed within a robust European framework.
- Security and compliance must be part of the foundation.
- Our customers need to be able to trust where their data is stored.
- HR and recruitment data should not be treated as ordinary operational data, but as business-critical and sensitive personal information.
The European cloud is an asset for Danish companies 🇩🇰
Our position is clear: European HR data must be protected in Europe
We are proud to use Scaleway as our data center. Not only because they provide modern cloud infrastructure, but because their development supports a broader European movement: greater control over data, stronger security, and less reliance on non-European cloud models.
For our customers, this means that our technical foundation has been carefully selected. As a Danish HR and recruitment system operating in Europe, we believe that data security, compliance, and sovereignty should be integral to the product, not just an add-on.
